Truth behind shock claims Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are ‘not legally married’

The UK’s sweethearts Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are facing claims that their marriage is “not legally binding” despite hosting a ceremony at their home back in 2022

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are being faced with claims that they are “not legally married” after the pair said “I do” at their Essex cottage back in 2022. The Sun has claimed that The X Factor star and her husband, who is best known for playing Mickey Miller in EastEnders, are not legally married.

Daily Star has gone to both Stacey and Joe’s representatives for comment. The TV personalities tied the knot at a private ceremony at their house four years ago, but the publication is claiming they “didn’t follow it up”.

A source claimed: “They always intended to do the legal part, but with six kids and busy diaries just haven’t got round to it — life has got in the way.” However, at the time of their wedding Stacey publicly informed her fans that it was not possible for the event to be a civil ceremony and she would register their marriage legally at a later date.

She took to Instagram to share a fan’s comment: “So excited for you and your family. Being nosey but I always wanted to get married at home and didn’t think you could? How does it work?”

Stacey replied: “To get married anywhere legally, the place has to have a ‘civil ceremony’ licence. One of the requirements for this licence is that the premises must be made ‘readily available’ for ceremonies.

“As this is our private family home and we need it to remain that way we couldn’t go for that option. So we are having a relaxed private blessing in front of our closest friends & family and a ceremony of our love to each other and we will register our marriage legally after… Hope this helps.”

Pictures of the happy couple’s big day show Stacey wearing a stunning white gown with a corset, thin straps, dainty sleeves and a long flowing skirt.

She styled her blonde hair in loose waves and added a white flower crown to complement her colour scheme. Stacey added glittering pumps on her feet and clutched a bouquet of white flowers in one hand as she walked down the aisle with Joe in the other.

Joe looked dapper in a navy blue three-piece suit with a crisp white shirt, a mint green bow tie and shiny black shoes. He added a white corsage and beamed as she held his bride as they walked through a tunnel of white flowers.

Pictures show them laughing, clutching each other, touching foreheads and enjoying their big day.

The claims come shortly after Stacey was spotted out and about without her wedding ring on. When questioned by This Morning’s Ben Shephard, she replied: “Do you know what, I’m terrible, I don’t read any of that [rumours]! In fact, does anyone anymore read any of that rubbish? We just, have I not been wearing my ring? I probably took it off to go to the toilet or something! I mean, I don’t know…”
