Just as Gemma Collins and Craig Charles went head-to-head during their inaugural trial in the spin-off series, the episode (April 7) delivered a cliffhanger twist that left fans absolutely livid. Gemma and Craig had just determined how much they were prepared to consume in the eating challenge, competing for points for their respective teams.

Everything hinged on the ultimate face-off, but just as presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly launched proceedings, the programme concluded. Including a cliffhanger and cutting the episode short before the trial had wrapped up didn’t sit well with ITV audiences.

While numerous viewers slated the choice and programme chiefs, one fan even demanded the spin-off series format be scrapped completely. Being a pre-filmed series, shot towards the end of last year, audiences have reduced participation and it differs considerably from the main programme.

Turning to social media to criticise ITV for concluding the episode prematurely, one supporter commented: “What a cruel way to end that.” Another remarked: “No no no, it didn’t just end like that. Who do I’m celeb think they are. Love island?”, reports the Mirror.

A third message stated: “WHAT THE F***. Axe this pre-recorded format immediately WHAT DO YOU MEAN ending the episode on a cliffhanger in the MIDDLE OF A TRIAL?!”

Another comment declared: “YOU CANT JUST END IT LIKE THAT WHAT THE HELL.” One enthusiast posted: “NOOOOOOOO WHY END THERE,” while another stated: “A cliffhanger. You’re ending it on a cliffhanger.” It emerges as viewers anticipated a row brewing between three campmates on the programme. Following Beverley Callard’s mention of her launch episode controversy with David Haye, her fellow contestants were shocked by his disloyalty.

Back at the main camp, another campmate seemed to challenge David after he grumbled about their evening meal, despite it being superior to the provisions the other camp were receiving. David, who was worried he might go without food.

Observing the serving size, particularly when divided amongst the five campmates, he informed stars including Sinitta that it wasn’t sufficient sustenance.

However, when it came to consuming it, he couldn’t manage to finish his portion. Sinitta highlighted that there was additional food available if he remained peckish, but he refused.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Sinitta noted how he’d insisted the food wasn’t adequate, yet he didn’t even consume what was in the food container. Audiences were entertained by Sinitta confronting him, and forecast both she and Beverley would eventually clash with David in a camp dispute.

One viewer commented: “Sinitta and Beverly vs David Haye feud incoming.” Another fan speculated: “Haye I can see causing rows,” while a third remarked: “Obsessed with them all hating David.”
