Britney Spears’ son Sean Preston changes name after DUI arrest in huge statement

Britney Spears’ son Sean Preston has shown support for his mum following her shock DUI arrest last month by changing his Instagram surname from Federline to Spears

Britney Spears’ son, Sean Preston Federline, has made a significant show of support for his mother. The 20 year old changed his surname on Instagram.

Instead of displaying his father’s surname, Sean’s Instagram page now reads Sean P Spears. This comes as he has stood by his mother since her arrest last month. Britney, Sean and brother, Jayden James, recently enjoyed time together on a boat and shared the joyful moments on social media. The trio were seen grinning for the camera as Britney posed in a pink crop top and tiny white shorts.

She donned sunglasses as she stood between her two sons, who were coordinated in white t-shirts. Sean’s reunion with his mother follows his previous refusal to allow the star to spend the holidays together.

Sean chose to spend the festive period in Louisiana with grandmother Lynne Spears, aunt Jamie Lynn Spears and other family members. However, it now seems he is firmly by his mother’s side and ready to support her, reports the Mirror.

Last month, the singer was arrested by the California Highway Patrol for Driving Under the Influence. Police stated that the singer “showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests” after being stopped.

A spokesperson said at the time: “At approximately 8.48pm, a black BMW 430i was reported to the CHP’s Ventura Communications Centre for driving erratically at a high rate of speed on southbound US-101 near the Borchard Road exit in Newbury Park.”

Spears, who police confirmed was alone in the car, was subsequently arrested for “driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol” and taken to Ventura County Main Jail, north west of Los Angeles.

Britney is set to appear in court over the incident on 4 May.

Following the episode, the Toxic singer, 44, initially deleted her Instagram profile – which previously featured risqué videos of the star dancing in lingerie – after her arrest. She chose instead to maintain a low profile.

However, she made a comeback and started sharing glimpses of her family life. Alongside their boat trip, Britney uploaded two videos last month of herself with her seldom-seen son Jayden, 19.

It’s alleged that her ex Kevin Federline’s book sent Britney into a “downhill spiral” in the months leading up to her arrest. Britney and Kevin, 47, were married from 2004 until 2007. Kevin recently published his memoir You Thought You Knew, in which he made several explosive revelations about his former wife.
